In a small group (max. 8 participants) as well as a safe and supportive setting, we will explore the following skills:

  • Give your story more emotional impact

  • Transform listeners’ ears into eyes, tongues, hands, and noses

  • Find and trust your creative wild side

  • Let down your guard and be vulnerable

  • Tell your story with a wider range of physicality, voice, and awareness

  • Add music to your delivery (with guest James Harper)

  • Make your audience laugh (with guest Mike Trupiano)

Similar to our beginner workshop

We will work alone, in pairs, and as a group - learning by doing, observing, giving & reflecting on feedback, experimenting with encouragement to fly or flop.

At the end of this intense day

You will have a better story and an invitation to tell it at THE bEAR’s upcoming shows on November 17 and December 8th.

From our last workshop storyteller Adriana Perez said:

“What started out as a storytelling workshop, ended in a day of getting to know myself better and connecting with people I had never met before. I am more confident about my skills and understand how to continue to improve.
Also, it was a lot of fun!”

This is for storytellers who have either taken our first workshop: Find. Craft. Tell Your Story workshops or have similar experience with the basic personal storytelling principles. If you are not sure if this is the right workshop for you, send us an email at: dyane@THEbEAR-storytelling.de

Vulnerability

Yes, it’s purposely a long day to allow the time to ponder, pause, play, have fun, and also at the end to feel fatigue. In this tired state, we often are more apt to let go of our protective shields, and just be ourselves: vulnerable and genuine.

TRAINER

Dyane Neiman - My Story

I am an American born, NYC-Bred, Berlin-based communications trainer and business owner of MOVING-SPEAKER since 2011. First I worked with moving bodies as a choreographer, performer and director; receiving three consecutive Theaterzwang awards for "outstanding achievement" in the field of theater.

And then I added voice and words.

Since 2011, I have been training & coaching leaders, entrepreneurs, scientists, female professionals - from around the world to discover the power of their voice, wisdom, and stories to move people to action.

In 2015, I founded and continue to direct THE bEAR - Berlin's popular open stage for true. personal stories.

It’s been a privilege to have produced over 800 stories for businesses, organizations, and the Berlin community.

"Storytelling is the most powerful way to connect, persuade, and inspire people to action."

Musician, podcaster, producer: James Harper

James Harper

is the creator of award-nominated podcast Filter Stories, a show that uses our morning coffee as a lens to understand the world. His narratives explore history, science and sustainability, and he writes the piano music that underscore the stories.

His podcasts have been heard hundreds of thousands of times, and he has produced narrative podcasts for a wide array of clients, including Porsche (Driven Minds), Duolingo (Spanish Podcast), World Coffee Portal (5THWAVE), Specialty Coffee Association (World Coffee Championships), and others.

Growing up half Italian in Sydney, he’s lived in Hong Kong and Rome and began his career working for the Bank of England in 2009. However, his passion for coffee was simply too strong to resist, and in 2016 moved to Berlin to become The Barn Coffee Roaster’s Wholesale Manager, and then in early 2018 hopped on a flight to Guatemala to dive deeper into the world of specialty coffee as a documentary podcast producer.

When he is not traveling around the world, James generously accompanies storytellers at THE bEAR. He will join us for the day and experiment with how musical improvisation can add a whole other layer of emotional impact to your story.
