Berlin Science Week 2018
THE BEAR IS ON THE LOOSE!
The Bear leaves its cozy cave at Meeet Pavilion and heads over to the Kulturbrauerei in 36 Schönhauser Allee.
Scientists take the stage for a curated program of personal, true stories in German and English. All eight storytellers were handpicked and coached to get to the engaging essentials in 8 minutes. No jargon, no slides, no notes, just heart-to-heart communication that connects and moves listeners.
Half of the tickets are gone, so if you'd like to join us, please get a ticket online.
We are back at Meeet Pavilion on December 14th with our traditional Christmas potluck buffet in the break.
The Bear present GRAVITY: encounters with uncontrollable forces on November 16th
“Nothing humbles a man like gravity.“
from “Luke Cage“ series
Although science shapes all of our lives, we rarely learn of the human elements, like the error and elation, involved in its making.
A camera-toting biologist waits alone for 7 days and 7 nights in sub-zero temperatures for a wolf photo; a mountain-climbing specialist in genomics forgets to double-check her climbing equipment for the first time; a physicist struggles with a decision that will lead to fame or infamy; an introverted chemist discovers heavy metal music to break his barrier; a bat expert has to convince a machete-carrying tribe chief that she can keep up with the guys.
Live music from the Slovakia-born composer, songwriter, multi-instrument talented Victoria Priest. She weaves the 8 stories into a musical whole, playing her underground ukulele songs to dramatic piano compositions.
Show host and Bear founder, Dyane Neiman charms listeners with her lively audience interaction.
